The new, $1.3 million, 310 TFLOPS high-performance cluster, Pronghorn, has been launched in January 2018. The Pronghorn is a high performance computing system shared by professors and students at UNR. The Pronghorn comprises of 32 Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors and 32 Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 equiped with NVIDIA Tesla P100 GPUs, totalling 2400 cores. Our group bought 128 cores.
We are sharing a 40-core workstation with Dr. Wang's group. The workstation is equipped with two powerful Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors (20-Core each, 2.2GHz, 50 MB SmartCache, Max Turbo frequency: 3.60 GHz), 128G DDR4-2400MHz memory, 10 TB SATA 6Gb/s hard drive, and 240 GB M.2 SATA SSD. Essential compiliers and softwares, including our own phase-field code, are installed and maintained regularly.
We are sharing an even more powerful (2018-model) 40-core workstation with Dr. Wang's group. The workstation is equipped with two powerful Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors (20-Core each, 2.4GHz, 27.5 MB L3 Cache, Max Turbo frequency: 3.70 GHz), 192G DDR4-2400MHz memory, 10 TB SATA 6Gb/s hard drive, and 480 GB Data Center SATA 2.5" SSD. Essential compiliers and softwares, including our own phase-field code, are installed and maintained regularly.
We have a Dell Precision T1500 tower workstation (8-core, 16GB RAM, Intel Core i7-870, 2.93 GHz) and a Dell Precision T5400 tower workstation (shared with Dr. Wang's group. 4-core/8-thread, 16GB RAM, Intel Xeon-X5460, 3.16 GHz).We also have several desktops for student and faculty use.
